Abstract

The contribution will introduce main research topics related to global and regional climate modelling that are looked into at the Department of Atmospheric Physics. Attention will be paid mainly to two themes: climate classifications and uncertainties in model outputs. In the first part of the presentation recent results regarding the validation of CMIP5 GCMs and EuroCORDEX RCMs using Koeppen-Trewartha climate classification will be shown, as well as projected changes of climate types during the 21st century. In the second part several issues related to analysis of uncertainties in regional climate model outputs will be discussed. A modern approach of evaluation of influence of driving data on the nested simulation based on functional data analysis will be introduced.
